Description

The branches, green when young, are hairless and have 4 corky wings down the sides. The leaves are elliptic to egg-shaped, dark green with toothed margins. The foliage turns brilliant red in autumn. The pale green flowers bloom in summer and are followed by pale red, usually 4-lobed fruit that opens to reveal bright orange seeds.
