The Gleditsia Triacanthos Inermis Shademaster
is commonly known as the Shademaster Honeylocust or Shademaster Honey Locust.
It is somewhat vase-shaped, with a pleasing
rounded outline, this tree offers a light, filtered shade and is one of
the thornless forms (f. inermis) of the gleditsia triacanthos species.
The dark green compound leaflets turn golden
each autumn and because of their small size (about 1/2 inch long), fall
clean up is easy - the leaflets often "melt away" into the soil, before
one has a chance to rake.
Shademaster Thornless Honeylocust is basically
podless, further proof of its cleanliness and good manners.
The Gleditsia Triacanthos Inermis Shademaster
is a fast growth tree - about 1.5 feet per year. It is mature at
around 50 to 60 feet high by 30 to 40 feet.
